Macnica Americas Inc., San Diego, CA. Delivers 10G RTP Video Over IP FPGA Solution For Video Broadcast Market

SAN DIEGO ---- Expanding its FPGA solutions for the Video broadcast market, Macnica Americas announced today a flexible Multi-channel SMPTE 2022-5/6 compliant Video Transport solution.

This unique solution can be implemented in a single Stratix® V or Stratix IV FPGA from Altera and offered in Verilog source code. The all-in-one solution offers Video Broadcast equipment manufacturers the ability to rapidly enhance their product lines to provide uncompressed video over 10 GbE transport capabilities.

Broadcasters have a need to transport uncompressed, high definition video over standard dedicated IP networks. This design allows multiple channels to be transported over a standard 10 Gbps IP link. Due to the real-time, low latency requirements of live video, re-transmits are not possible — so the design includes Forward Error Correction functionality (FEC). Full code documentation and a flexible, customizable verification environment allow the design to be customized and extended by a customer’s design engineers, or by Macnica’s design services team to meet the specific application requirements.

The functions of Macnica’s IP include:

* Avalon-ST packet interface combined with well documented, flexible, encap/decap modules, for easy adaption to Sonet based video transport standards.
* Flexible search table based UDP/IP + RTP Encapsulation/De-capsulation.
* Programmable framing per channel, with a built in upgrade path to 256 channels
* Search table-based channel/host port identification on De-encapsulation
* Altera’s Video and Image Processing (VIP) IP Suite
* Macnica’s streaming Multi-port Front End allows for flexible use of DDR3 memory, based on individual requirements and available RAM bandwidth.
* DDR3 RAM access using Altera's UniPhy and OSI's streaming MPFE
* Multi-port capable host processor interface

Macnica’s combination of Intellectual Property in source code form, and Design Services, is essential for the deployment of SMPTE 2022-5/6 solutions, as these complex solutions need to be tightly integrated with the feature sets of equipment providers’ unique and innovative products. Macnica Design Services can do the customization of the product for each application, or provide applications support to the equipment provider throughout their own customization process.
